U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine
Sean Langan is currently a postdoctoral research physiologist at the U.S. Army Research of Environmental Medicine within the Military Performance Division. He received his PhD at UCONN in 2024 where his dissertation focused on how the peripheral vasculature and muscle oxygenation adapt with heat acclimation and coordinated many of the elite athlete testing services offered by KSI. He has been a licensed athletic trainer since 2018, and a certified strength and conditioning specialist since 2021.
Sean has worked clinically for a variety of sports as an athletic trainer in New Jersey, Georgia, and Connecticut. He also works as a strength and conditioning coach for private clients in his spare time. Sean’s main research interests are the integrative physiology of exercise and underpinnings of human performance, with a focus on the cardiovascular system and effects of extreme environments. At USARIEM he and his team are working on a host of projects related to physiological implications of high altitude, heat, and cold stress involving wearable technology, pharmaceuticals, and biomarker development.
