Assistant Athletic Trainer, Carolina Panthers


Kevin King is in his 11th season with the Panthers and fourth as head athletic trainer in 2023.

King oversees and directs an athletic training/physical therapy staff that is responsible for monitoring and caring for the overall health of the team and its personnel. He manages a staff consisting of full-time athletic trainers and season-long certified intern athletic trainers that are experienced in injury prevention and recovery, as well as conditioning and rehabilitation.
King was promoted to head athletic trainer in 2020 after serving seven years as assistant athletic trainer with the Panthers.
King got his start in the NFL in 1998 as a summer athletic training intern with the New York Giants. He also spent time with the Cleveland Browns as an athletic training intern in 2003 and 2004.
During his career, King also gained experience on the collegiate level, serving as an assistant athletic trainer at North Carolina State University for three years (2004-07) before he became a staff athletic trainer at the University of North Carolina (2007-13).
King attended East Carolina University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training & Sports Medicine, before going on to earn his Masters from the University of Connecticut.
In 2019, King was recognized at the North Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association Clinical Symposium and Awards Ceremony where he received the Bill Griffin Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award.
While advancing in the profession of athletic training and healthcare, King has remained active in committee work and leadership with various organizations, including the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association, North Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association and Professional Football Athletic Trainers’ Society.
A native of Wilson, N.C., King attended Beddingfield High School. He and his wife, Nicole, live in Charlotte.
