Gatorade

Gatorade is a founding partner of the Korey Stringer Institute. Gatorade and the Gatorade Sport Science Institute continue to search for and study new and innovative ways to help athletes improve performance by facilitating proper hydration and nutrition. From the lab testing of athletes, to new flavor and delivery system development, to the publication and distribution of scientific research, the Gatorade Company and GSSI perpetually strive to advance their collective mission on enabling athletes to always perform at their peak.


University of Connecticut, College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources (CAHNR)

The University of Connecticut is a national leader among public research universities, with more than 32,000 students seeking answers to critical questions in classrooms, labs, and the community. A culture of innovation drives this pursuit of knowledge throughout the University’s network of campuses. KSI is housed within UConn's College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources and the Department of Kinesiology, which provides KSI with administrative and communications support.


National Athletic Trainers’ Association

The National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) is the professional membership association for certified athletic trainers and others who support the athletic training profession. NATA supports KSI programs such as TUFSS and ATLAS, and is a partner with KSI on AT advocacy. CamelBak

The mission of Camelbak is to continuously reinvent and forever change the way people hydrate and perform. CamelBak partners with KSI programs and collaborates to develop product prototypes to solve specific problems for laborers.


Kestrel Pocket Weather Meters by Nielsen-Kellerman

Nielsen-Kellerman is committed to ensuring that people know the weather and environmental conditions that impact their health, safety and bottom line. Kestrel partners with KSI on several programs. Visit Kestrel’s page on heat stress to learn more about safely working or exercising in the heat.


MISSION

Mission has a dual mission. While delivering world-class innovations that meet the unique needs of an athletic lifestyle, Mission also makes an impact off the field of play through the M Foundation, which promotes the health and safety of youth athletes, and simultaneously recognizes and awards high school athletes that give back to their community. MISSION collaborates with KSI on laborer-related studies, and continues to be critical to the growth of the Heat Safety and Performance Coalition.


Defibtech

Defibtech is a leader and innovator in the design and manufacture of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Defibtech has collaborated with KSI to donate AEDs to high schools through TUFSS. Defibtech is headquartered in Guilford, Conn.


MAGID

Magid is a key partner on KSI initiatives like the Heat Safety and Performance Coalition. Partner activities include co-hosting the Magid Safety Summit featuring 200 safety professionals.

USA Football

USA Football is the national governing body for amateur American football in the United States. It is an independent non-profit based in Indianapolis, Indiana. USA Football hosts more than 100 training events annually and offers education programs for coaches and game officials, as well as skill development for young players and resources for youth league administrators.

NOAA Weather Ready Nation

The Korey Stringer Institute has pledged to become a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador, with a joint mission to raise awareness and improve the nation’s readiness, responsiveness, and overall resilience against extreme weather, water, and climate events. Specifically, KSI will continue to educate public on heat safety issues and advocate for evidence-based clinical practices among various healthcare professionals to prevent exertional heat illness from affecting physically active populations–including athletes, warfighters, and laborers.

American College of Sports Medicine

American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world. With more than 50,000 members and certified professionals worldwide, ACSM is dedicated to advancing and integrating scientific research to provide educational and practical applications of exercise science and sports medicine.


American Medical Society for Sports Medicine

The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) was formed in 1991 to fill a void that has existed in sports medicine from its earliest beginnings. The Founders, most recognized and expert sports medicine specialists, realized that while there were several physician organizations which supported sports medicine, there was not a forum specific for primary care non-surgical sports medicine physicians.AMSSM provides a forum to foster professional relationships among sports medicine physicians to advance the discipline of sports medicine through education, research, advocacy and excellence in patient care.


Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States

The mission of Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States (MHAUS) is to promote optimum care and scientific understanding of MH and related disorders.MHAUS has four primary goals:

  1. Educate the entire spectrum of healthcare professionals so that MH is rapidly recognized and properly treated by persons in all of the medical disciplines.
  2. Advise and prepare all medical facilities in the United States for prompt diagnosis and immediate treatment of an MH episode.
  3. Help MH-susceptible patients and their families learn to live with MH susceptibility and share with them the experience and knowledge which has accumulated about MH.
  4. Encourage and support research in MH, especially a highly accurate noninvasive diagnostic test.

Thanks to the efforts of MHAUS and similar organizations around the world, the mortality rate has been markedly reduced. Also, these efforts have helped to identify forms of MH that were not previously recognized by the medical community. MHAUS continues to help advance this field.

MHAUS maintains a 24-hour hotline for individuals dealing with a malignant hyperthermia emergency. Healthcare providers can reach an MH expert by calling 1-800-644-9737 and receive guidance for patient care.


International Institute for Race Medicine

The International Institute for Race Medicine has the mission to:

  • Promote the health and safety of participants in road race endurance events through research, communication, education, and the development of medical standards that can be utilized by all involved.
  • Advance the safety of running/endurance events through education of medical professionals, emergency management agencies, hospitals, event administrators, public safety agencies, and other professionals providing medical care at road races.
  • Encourage the sharing of information as it pertains to all medical aspects of running and endurance events.
  • Promote research and improvements in clinical care for participants in road races and mass participation running events.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with public safety groups.
  • Establish reliable logistical matrixes that can be followed by events of all sizes.
  • Provide event safety recommendations to event medical teams and race administrators.
  • Establish liaisons to various groups, corporations and organizations that will help promote our mission.

Matthew Gfeller Sport-Related Traumatic Brain Injury Research Center

The mission of the Matthew Gfeller Sport-Related TBI Research Center is to improve the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of sport-related traumatic brain injuries through research, education, and clinical practice.
