Michael J. Ormsbee is the Margaret A. Sitton Endowed Professor and the Executive Director of the Institute of Sports Sciences & Medicine at Florida State University (FSU). He also serves as the Graduate Program Director of the Department of Health, Nutrition, and Food Sciences at FSU, and he is an honorary research fellow at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa. Dr. Ormsbee is a Fellow of the National Academy of Kinesiology, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the International Society of Sports Nutrition. He is also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association. His research focuses on the interplay between exercise training and nutrition to enhance health and performance in both athletic and clinical populations.

Dr. Ormsbee has received numerous accolades for his contributions to education and research, including 2014 FSU Teacher of the Year, 2017 Nutrition Researcher of the Year (NSCA), 2018 FSU Graduate Student Mentor of the Year, 2020 FSU Distinguished Teacher of the Year, 2020 Sport Scientist of the Year (NSCA), and is the 2025 Margaret A Sitton Endowed Professor. He offers a course, “Changing Body Composition Through Diet and Exercise,” through Wondrium® and is the co-author of the textbook “Exercise Physiology for Health, Fitness, and Performance, 6th edition.” Follow him on social media @mikeormsbee.
